Workload management on cloud services for advertising agencies and brands got easier on Thursday, as Google Cloud announced an extended partnership with VMware, an integrated first-party service
that lets customers migrate or run VMware environments in Google Cloud.
The new service connects from a dedicated VMware environment to Google Cloud.
The companies are calling the
service Google Cloud VMware Engine.
Through the connection of the VMware Cloud Foundation, the company’s stack for hybrid and private cloud systems, on a dedicated Google infrastructure,
customers gain access to Google Cloud services such as Anthos, BigQuery, Cloud AI, Cloud Operations, and Cloud Storage.
The service also offers a fully managed stack that includes vCenter,
vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and HCX in a dedicated environment on Google Cloud’s infrastructure.
Partners also play a role to speed deployments. “As customers look to simplify their
cloud migration journey, we’re committed to build cloud services to help customers benefit from the increased agility and efficiency of running VMware workloads on Google Cloud,” stated
Bob Black, Dell Technologies Global Lead Alliance Principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP.
Last summer Google announced support to run VMware workloads on Google Cloud. In the fall, the
company acquired CloudSimple to provide customers an
integrated VMware-based solution.
Google Cloud VMware Engine, a fully managed service, is expected to become available before June 2020 in
two U.S. regions, expanding into additional areas globally during the second half of the year.
On Tuesday Google announced the development of prescriptive guidelines to help modernize
Java applications allowing companies to gain operational cost savings, reduce dependencies on proprietary software, and increase software delivery speeds.
Part of that includes Anthos, an open application platform that aims to help modernize existing apps with containerized micro-services alongside virtual machines, plus integration
into tools for policy management and modern application development and delivery.
In this way, Anthos aims to let companies innovate faster and deliver new experiences to customers, while
reducing risk and costs.
